GROUND at the Stadium Park, Stavanger, Norway

The GROUND teenage play area which was opened in December 2008 at the Stadium Park, Stavanger, marks the first step of a plan to make the area an attractive play and sports destination area for families.

Later an outdoor fitness area, a ball games area and a green area are to be designed for the location.

The GROUND is placed close to housing estates and a public school. The pupils from the secondary school use the area during breaks also and the children and young people from the housing estates use the area intensively.

The GROUND is designed in different levels with soft inclinations from one to the other. The play apparatus features digital ICON products, ICON Rocky, ICON Space and ICON Nova. Big, orange rings make playful frames for informal seating and meeting, and BLOQX climbing boulders are placed on the elevated level to give climbers a view of the entire park.

Due to Stavanger’s outstanding playground planning policies, the children of the area apart from to this destination playground have access to local area playgrounds, so that younger children are catered for in the area also.
